POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Islamabad – Pakistan has informed both Iran and the United States that the final schedule for the second phase of mediation talks will be announced only after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returns from his ongoing foreign tour.
According to sources, both Tehran and Washington have indicated that the same negotiation teams that participated in the first round of talks in Islamabad will also take part in the upcoming phase.
Officials expect that the second round of US-Iran discussions could begin in Islamabad as early as next week, following the prime minister’s return.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is currently on an important regional visit accompanied by a high-level delegation. He has already arrived in Saudi Arabia as part of the tour and is expected to visit Qatar and Türkiye in the coming days.
Pakistan continues to position itself as a mediator between the two sides, with efforts focused on facilitating dialogue and easing regional tensions.
