POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was shifted from prison to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a scheduled medical procedure to address a persistent eye condition.
Medical Procedure & Progress
The PTI founder underwent a specialized procedure where surgeons administered his fourth intravitreal anti-VEGF injection. This treatment is part of an ongoing battle with Right Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO), a condition first diagnosed in late January. Before the injection, doctors performed an OCT scan (a detailed eye imaging test), which confirmed that his vision and retinal health are showing clinical signs of improvement.
Strict Protocols
The hospital spokesperson confirmed that the procedure was conducted under high-standard surgical protocols and microscopic guidance. The patient remained "vitally stable" throughout his brief stay. This marks his fourth major treatment session; his previous injections were administered on January 24, February 24, and March 23.
Discharge and Aftercare
Following the successful administration of the dose, he was discharged on Tuesday morning and sent back with a formal set of medical instructions and follow-up documentation for his recovery.
