Multiple areas of Karachi were hit by heavy rain, hailstorms, and thunderstorms on Tuesday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The department had forecast light to moderate rain with thunder across the city.

Rainfall was reported in Maripur, Mochko, Gulistan-e-Johar, Federal B Area, Malir, Liaquatabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and University Road. Meanwhile, hailstorms were observed near Karachi Airport, Malir Cantt, Gulistan-e-Johar, and Karimabad, leading to a significant drop in temperatures in affected areas.

The highest recorded rainfall of 20mm was at Jinnah Terminal, followed by Nazimabad with 8.5mm, University Road 5.8mm, North Karachi 2.3mm, Bahria Town 2mm, and Old Airport and Surjani Town each with 1mm. Strong winds accompanied the rain, blowing from various directions at speeds of 10 to 40 kilometres per hour.

The PMD reported a morning humidity level of 91 per cent, with visibility reduced to 600 metres. Humidity levels are expected to range between 45 and 95 per cent over the next 24 hours.

Weather forecasts indicate that the minimum temperature in Karachi on Tuesday was 18.6°C, with Wednesday expected to range between 17°C and 19°C. The maximum temperature on Monday was 27.7°C, with Tuesday expected to range between 26°C and 28°C.

Residents are advised to remain cautious during the ongoing storms, as hail and strong winds can pose risks to both pedestrians and motorists.
