POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Iran has no intention of engaging in conflict with other countries in the region, emphasising the need for international efforts to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
According to Iranian media reports, the Iranian president held a telephone conversation with Shehbaz Sharif, during which the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and its potential implications for global peace and stability.
During the discussion, President Pezeshkian warned that if the international community fails to hold those responsible for the war accountable, serious threats could emerge for the global order and international security.
He reiterated that Iran does not seek confrontation with neighbouring countries and remains committed to regional stability.
Pakistan-Iran Diplomatic Engagement
The conversation comes amid heightened tensions in the region following ongoing conflicts and geopolitical developments involving multiple countries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed Pakistan’s condolences over recent developments in Iran and conveyed solidarity with the Iranian people.
Earlier, the Pakistani premier had written a letter to Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s newly elected Supreme Leader, offering condolences on the martyrdom of Ali Khamenei.
In his message, Sharif expressed sympathy on behalf of the Pakistani people and prayed for the brotherly nation of Iran and the wider Muslim Ummah during this difficult time.
Regional Stability Concerns
The exchange between the two leaders reflects ongoing diplomatic contacts between Pakistan and Iran as regional tensions continue to affect the Middle East and global security dynamics.
Pakistan has repeatedly emphasised the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement to resolve conflicts and prevent further escalation in the region.
Officials say Islamabad remains committed to maintaining constructive relations with all countries in the region while supporting efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.
