KP Government Bans High-Octane Fuel in Official Vehicles Amid Price Surge

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Administrative Affairs Department has issued an immediate ban on the use of high-octane fuel in government vehicles, following a sharp rise in fuel prices.

According to the official notification, the ban applies to all government vehicles, and high-octane fuel will no longer be charged to the government treasury. In unavoidable circumstances, the use of high-octane fuel is permitted but must be borne personally by the user.

Principal accounting officers across departments have been instructed to strictly enforce the directive, while heads of institutions have been directed to ensure compliance at all levels.

The decision aligns with a broader federal initiative, as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently imposed an immediate ban on high-octane fuel in all government vehicles nationwide.

Officials emphasized that the move is part of ongoing efforts to reduce public spending and mitigate the economic impact of rising global fuel prices, ensuring that government resources are used efficiently.

The ban on high-octane fuel comes amid a challenging period for Pakistan’s energy sector, with authorities seeking measures to stabilize costs and encourage fuel conservation in both public and private sectors.
