The medical report concerning the recent eye examination of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has been made public, indicating improvement in his vision following specialised treatment.
According to the report, a two-member medical board visited Adiala Jail on February 15, 2026, to assess the former prime minister’s eye condition. The board comprised Professor Dr Nadeem Qureshi from Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital and Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Khan from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
The examination recorded vision in Imran Khan’s right eye at 6/24 partial without glasses, while the left eye measured 6/9. However, with corrective glasses, the vision in the right eye improved to 6/9 partial, and the left eye vision reached 6/6, which is considered normal.
The report noted signs of retinal inflammation in the right eye but stated that swelling had decreased. The retinal thickness in the right eye was reduced from 550 to 350, indicating clinical improvement.
Doctors prescribed Nivanac and Cysteine Ultra eye drops for both eyes, while Cosopt eye drops were recommended specifically for the right eye.
The medical board observed that the former premier’s right eye vision had improved from 6/36 to 6/9 partial, describing it as “quite good vision at this stage.” Experts further advised that Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) angiography and Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA) tests be conducted after completion of anti-VEGF treatment to monitor further recovery.
The report also stated that following the check-up, opposition leaders Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and Barrister Gohar Khan visited PIMS Hospital at 9pm. Dr Asim and Khurram Mirza were briefed on Imran Khan’s health status in their presence.
According to the report, Imran Khan’s personal physicians and party leaders expressed satisfaction with the medical facilities and treatment provided.
The release of the report comes amid heightened political attention surrounding the PTI founder’s health, following recent legal proceedings and medical evaluations ordered by the court.
