Pakistan Security Forces Neutralize 34 Terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan

Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Wednesday that security forces have killed 34 terrorists in separate operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan over the past few days.

According to ISPR, the operations targeted Indian-backed terrorist groups Fitna Al Khwarij and Fitna Al Hindustan. Fitna Al Khwarij refers to militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Fitna Al Hindustan is a term used for terrorist outfits operating in Balochistan.

On February 24, 26 terrorists linked to Fitna Al Khwarij were killed in four separate engagements in KP, while eight terrorists associated with Fitna Al Hindustan were neutralized in Sambaza, Balochistan.

A breakdown of the operations includes:

  • North Waziristan, KP: Security forces engaged a group attempting to infiltrate via the Pak-Afghan border, killing one Afghan national.
  • Lakki Marwat, KP: An intelligence-based operation (IBO) killed three militants after a firefight.
  • Bannu, KP: Ten terrorists were neutralized in Narmi Khel.
  • Mir Ali, North Waziristan, KP: Twelve terrorists were killed.
  • Sambaza, Zhob district, Balochistan: Eight terrorists from Fitna Al Hindustan were eliminated during an IBO.

ISPR confirmed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, many of whom had actively participated in multiple terrorist activities. The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to defending the nation’s frontiers and continuing sanitization operations to eliminate remaining threats.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both praised the security forces for their professionalism and battlefield successes. The President stressed that operations must continue to eradicate terrorists with external backing, in line with the vision of Azm-i-Istehkam. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s determination to eliminate terrorism from the country.

Earlier this week, security forces also killed nine terrorists, including a suicide bomber, during operations in Balochistan and KP, demonstrating continued momentum in counterterrorism efforts.
