Two Policemen Martyred in Suicide Blast at Bhakkar Checkpost

Two policemen were martyred, and one other was injured in a suicide bombing at a checkpost in Bhakkar district, officials confirmed. The attack occurred at the Dajjal checkpost, located in the central Punjab region, and is being treated as a terrorist strike.

According to Bhakkar District Police Officer (DPO) Shahzad Rafiq, the suicide bomber approached the checkpost during a routine security operation and detonated explosives near the officers. The blast resulted in the deaths of two police officers, identified as Muhammad Faheem and Muhammad Shehbaz. A third officer, Arshad, sustained injuries in the attack. Additionally, three passersby were injured, although their identities remain undisclosed.

"The suicide attacker came near the checkpost and blew himself up while we were conducting a search operation in the area to maintain law and order," DPO Rafiq explained.

The injured individuals, including the policemen and passersby, were quickly transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bhakkar for medical treatment.

This attack comes on the same day as another tragic incident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat district, where six law enforcement personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), were martyred in a terrorist attack on a police vehicle. The attacks on security forces in both regions highlight the rising threat faced by law enforcement agencies in Pakistan as they continue to combat terrorism.

Local authorities have launched investigations into both incidents, with police forces on high alert in the affected areas. The government and security agencies have condemned the attacks and pledged to intensify efforts to counter terrorism and ensure the safety of civilians and law enforcement officers.
