The democratic exercise will span 24 electoral constituencies spread across 10 districts within the region’s three administrative divisions. A total of 403 candidates are officially in the running, signaling an intensely contested legislative race.

Independent Dominance and Party Breakdown: Data released by the Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission highlights a massive surge in non-aligned political participation. Out of the 403 total contestants, an overwhelming majority of 272 independent candidates are running for seats. In contrast, 131 candidates are contesting on tickets issued by various mainstream and regional political parties, setting up multi-cornered contests in several key constituencies.
The Administrative Deployment: To facilitate the voting process, the Election Commission has established 1,389 polling stations across the region's mountainous terrain. A massive framework of polling staff has been deployed to manage the ballots, comprising 1,389 Presiding Officers, 2,450 Assistant Presiding Officers, and 2,450 Polling Officers. Additionally, the GB government has actively engaged with federal law enforcement, requesting operational support from the Islamabad Police to ensure a peaceful environment on election day.

Campaign Trail and Security Overview: According to the Gilgit-Baltistan Police, the pre-election campaign phase has concluded successfully with a satisfactory law and order situation. Security logs indicate that since May 1, the region witnessed a peak in political mobilization, totaling 614 peaceful political activities. This included 62 major public gatherings, 217 localized public meetings, the establishment of 243 political offices, and 92 public rallies.

Law Enforcement Ultimatum: Local police authorities have issued an appeal to the public to maintain strict discipline, tolerance, and respect for statutory laws during Sunday’s polling. Citizens have been sterned warned against propagating unverified rumors, making provocative sectarian or political statements, or engaging in negative digital propaganda. The public has been directed to adhere completely to the official election code of conduct and to utilize the emergency helpline (15) to report any disruptions.
