CTD Operations in Balochistan Kill 14 Terrorists, Weapons Recovered

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out two major operations in Balochistan on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of 14 terrorists, officials said.

The first operation took place in the suburban Darakhshan area of Quetta, targeting a group identified as Fitna-al-Khawarij — terrorists linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan — who were allegedly planning multiple attacks on government installations and civilians.

In the ensuing gunfight, eight terrorists were killed, while three CTD officers sustained injuries. Officials confirmed the wounded personnel are in stable condition. Authorities recovered a large cache of weapons, grenades, and explosives from the terrorists’ hideouts.

The second intelligence-based operation occurred in Barkhan following reports of recent terrorist activity. Security forces surrounded suspected hideouts, and when the terrorists opened fire, six were killed in a counterattack. No casualties were reported among the security forces, and authorities seized automatic rifles, grenades, and explosives intended for future attacks.

Security has been tightened in both areas, with increased surveillance by law enforcement and military personnel to prevent further incidents. Investigations are ongoing to track remaining terrorists.

Officials Praise Operations

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the CTD for neutralising eight terrorists in Quetta and prayed for the recovery of the three injured officers.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the operations, saying, “Salute to the brave officers of CTD Balochistan for sending eight terrorists to hell,” and extended prayers for the officers’ speedy recovery. He additionally commended the elimination of six terrorists affiliated with Fitna-al-Hindustan, referring to militants linked to the Balochistan Liberation Army, highlighting the CTD’s professionalism and commitment to eradicating terrorist elements.

Balochistan has long faced insurgency, with recent attacks by the banned BLA leaving dozens of civilians dead. In previous counter-terrorism operations, security forces reportedly killed 216 terrorists, while 22 security personnel were martyred.

The latest operations underscore continued efforts by Pakistani authorities to strengthen security and prevent attacks in the province.
