Iranian Military Accuses US of Ceasefire Breach After Attack on Commercial Vessel in Arabian Sea

An Iranian military official has accused the United States of breaching the ceasefire by carrying out an attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Sea of Oman.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari stated that US forces opened fire on the merchant ship and deployed personnel onto its deck, disabling its navigation systems. He described the incident as an act of “maritime piracy” and warned that Iran’s armed forces would respond to what he called an unlawful action.

According to Iranian claims, the vessel—identified as the container ship Toska—was en route from China to Iran through the Gulf of Oman when it was targeted without provocation.

Iranian officials further said that their forces responded swiftly by launching drone strikes against several US military vessels operating in the area.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that American forces had taken control of the Iranian ship, highlighting the strength of the US military. His remarks came amid rising tensions following the reported maritime incident.

The situation has added to concerns over escalating hostilities in the region, particularly at a time when ceasefire arrangements remain fragile.
