POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Sohail Afridi has announced the formation of an “Imran Khan Peace Force,” stating that the initiative would bring together millions of supporters from various wings of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister said the force would serve as a unified platform for youth mobilisation and organisational coordination. He said the party aims to prepare young supporters to respond whenever former prime minister Imran Khan calls upon them.
Afridi said the proposed Peace Force would incorporate multiple PTI wings, including Insaf Youth and the party’s lawyers’ wing. He added that PTI already had structures such as the Relief Force, Tiger Force and Task Force, and that the new platform would bring all these segments together under one umbrella.
“The Imran Khan Peace Force will consist of millions of people,” he said, emphasising large-scale participation from party workers across the country.
The chief minister also criticised political opponents, stating that those who “robbed our mandate on February 8” were not benefactors of the people — a reference to the recent general elections, which PTI leaders have repeatedly alleged were marred by irregularities.
Commenting on the medical treatment of Imran Khan, Afridi rejected reports issued by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), terming them “fake.” His remarks come amid ongoing controversy between the government and PTI regarding the former premier’s health and medical care while in custody.
The announcement signals continued political mobilisation by PTI leadership as debates over Imran Khan’s detention and treatment remain at the forefront of national politics.
