Senate Debate Highlights Imran Khan’s Health and Political Engagement

In a Senate session, Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas called on the government to resolve issues regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, assuring that he would not support moves to topple the government.

Speaking during the session, Raja Nasir Abbas demanded the formation of a joint parliamentary committee to meet Imran Khan. He highlighted concerns regarding the PTI founder’s health, claiming he had not been allowed to meet his sisters and required another medical injection. He also alleged the existence of “fake papers” concerning Khan.

Responding, government senator Rana Sanaullah stressed that Imran Khan’s treatment is being handled under judicial oversight. “The Supreme Court has taken notice, appointed a friend of the court, and the government has arranged for his treatment,” Sanaullah said.

Sanaullah also criticized the opposition’s refusal to engage in political dialogue. “If a person is stubborn and not ready to accept anything, what should we do? We are ready to sit for the betterment of the country, but you are constantly refusing to be part of the political process,” he said.

He added that the government has consistently tried to negotiate, but requests are often ignored or directed at parties unwilling to engage. The exchange highlighted both ongoing concerns over Imran Khan’s health and broader tensions between the government and opposition over political engagement.
