Pakistan Defeats Malaysia 5-3, Advances to FIH World Cup Qualifier Semi-Finals

Pakistan’s men’s hockey team delivered a thrilling performance in the FIH Men’s World Cup Qualifier, defeating Malaysia 5-3 in their second match of the tournament held from March 1–7. The victory ensures Pakistan’s place in the semi-finals.

For Pakistan, Rana Waheed Ashraf, Zakariya Hayat, Ahmed Nadeem, Muhammad Sufyan Khan, and Muhammad Ammar each contributed a goal. Malaysia’s goals came from Abdul Rauf, Ahkamullah, and Fitri Saari, with each player scoring once.

The win was celebrated by officials, including Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, Ad-hoc Governance and Management Chairmen Olympians Islahuddin Siddiqui and Hassan Sardar, and Chief Selector Samiullah Khan, who all congratulated the team for their impressive performance.

Pakistan will face Austria in their third match of the Qualifier round on March 4, aiming to maintain their momentum and secure a place in the final stages of the competition. The team’s strong showing continues to raise hopes among fans for a successful World Cup campaign.
