A reckless driver managed to flee from traffic police during an ongoing crackdown against fancy number plates in Karachi, raising concerns over public safety and enforcement challenges.
The incident occurred in the Teen Talwar area of Clifton, where traffic police had set up a campaign targeting vehicles displaying unauthorized or decorative number plates.
According to police officials, the driver—described as a young man—initially stopped his vehicle when signaled by officers. However, he reportedly became aggressive, stepped out of the car briefly, and then suddenly fled the scene with his vehicle.
Authorities said the driver violated traffic signals while escaping and nearly hit pedestrians standing nearby, creating a dangerous situation.
A senior officer, the DIG Traffic, was also present at the scene during the operation, highlighting the seriousness of the ongoing campaign.
The traffic police have intensified efforts across the city to enforce regulations and ensure compliance with standard number plates. Officials reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against violators.
An investigation into the incident is underway, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the driver.
