Russia Sends First Humanitarian Aid to Iran Amid Regional War

Russia has become the first nation to send humanitarian assistance to Iran amid the ongoing war in the Middle East. The aid shipment, comprising over 13 tons of medical supplies, was transported on a Russian Il-76 cargo plane that landed in Azerbaijan, according to a statement posted by the Russian Embassy in Kenya on social media.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry said the cargo includes medicines and essential medical equipment. From Azerbaijan, the aid will be transported by trucks across the border to Iranian authorities to support ongoing humanitarian efforts.

Presidential Directive

The ministry confirmed that the aid shipment was sent under the orders of Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, signaling Moscow’s direct involvement in assisting Iran during the heightened regional tensions.

The humanitarian delivery comes as conflict-related disruptions continue to strain medical resources in Iran. Analysts note that Russia’s support may also carry strategic significance, reflecting Moscow’s role and interests in the broader Middle East crisis.
