Senate of Pakistan Condemns Netanyahu’s Anti-Muslim Comments

The Senate of Pakistan on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his recent statements on forming alliances with India and other countries to counter Muslim nations.

The resolution, moved by Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan of the Pakistan Peoples Party, criticized provocative actions and statements by Israeli leadership that threaten regional and international peace. Netanyahu had said in a cabinet meeting that Israel intends to create a “hexagon of alliances” involving India, Greece, Cyprus, and other unnamed Arab, African, and Asian countries to counter what he termed the “radical Shia” and “radical Sunni” axes.

The Senate also condemned Israel’s recognition of Somaliland’s independence, continued violations of the ceasefire in Gaza, and disregard for international law, the UN Charter, and ICJ advisory opinions. The resolution highlighted Israel’s attempts to undermine the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Muslim nations and reaffirmed opposition to any changes in the legal or historical status of the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The House demanded the international community hold Israel accountable for its “crimes against humanity” and called for full Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories. It also stressed the need for sustained humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza, including through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and urged an early start to recovery and reconstruction efforts in the region.

The Senate reaffirmed Pakistan’s historic support for the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and contiguous state of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
