At least six Palestinians were killed in overnight Israeli military drone attacks on two police posts in the central and southern Gaza Strip, as the enclave continues to suffer under more than two years of conflict. The strikes targeted a checkpoint in the Bureij refugee camp and another at the al-Maslakh intersection in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis.
Medical sources at Nasser Medical Complex reported four fatalities and several wounded arriving after the al-Mawasi strike, some in critical condition. In Bureij, two more were killed and others injured in similar strikes.
Hazem Qassem condemned the attacks, saying they undermine mediator efforts during a so-called “ceasefire” phase that Israel has violated almost daily since October 10, 2023. He described the Israeli bombardment as a continuation of a war of extermination against Palestinians, stating that promises from guarantor states lack substance on the ground.
Meanwhile, humanitarian conditions in Gaza remain dire. The Gaza Crossings and Borders Authority reported limited movement through the Rafah crossing into Egypt, with 50 Palestinians passing on Thursday, including 13 patients and 37 companions. Aid delivery also remains insufficient: only 286 trucks entered Gaza, far below the 600 trucks required daily to meet the population’s needs amid hunger and the ongoing blockade.
Israel has also ordered 37 aid organizations to provide personal information about Palestinian staff by March 1 or halt operations. International NGOs, including Doctors Without Borders xfam","international ngo"], and the Norwegian Refugee Council, have challenged the order in Israel’s Supreme Court, warning that compliance could endanger staff, compromise humanitarian neutrality, and violate European data protection laws.
Abu Azzoum, a humanitarian official, said the order could “mark a major turning point for the humanitarian response system in Gaza,” potentially forcing the suspension of aid operations entirely.
The escalating military strikes and pressure on aid groups intensify the already severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where civilians remain dependent on external assistance while facing renewed violence and restrictions.
