US Rejects Iran’s Request to Change Venue for Nuclear Talks

The United States has rejected Iran’s request to hold nuclear talks in Oman instead of the previously agreed venue, Turkey, according to US officials. The decision has raised concerns that the planned negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program may collapse.

A US official said, “We told them that either the talks will be held in Turkey or nothing will happen at all. We considered the request to change the venue but decided to reject it.”

Earlier reports indicated that Iran had agreed to consider changing the venue, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had expressed readiness to meet with Iranian officials this week. Rubio emphasized that the US has always been open to consultations with Iran but added that discussions should not be limited solely to the nuclear program.

The latest developments suggest increasing tension and uncertainty over the resumption of diplomatic negotiations, as both sides face pressure to resolve longstanding nuclear and regional security issues.
