A special Thanksgiving Day ceremony was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, honoring the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the recent conflict with India. The event was graced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, all three service chiefs, and key government ministers.
Army Chief General Asim Munir, speaking informally with journalists during the ceremony, praised the unity displayed by the nation in confronting the enemy. He particularly commended the Pakistani media for their responsible and powerful response to the Indian media’s narrative, calling it a “brilliant response” that will be remembered.
“The media is our pride. We did not hide anything and told the truth,” said Gen. Munir, emphasizing the critical role the press played in showcasing Pakistan’s perspective during the recent tensions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the ceremony, saluted the martyrs and described the day as one of gratitude—a moment that comes once in centuries. He reminded the nation that despite Pakistan’s sincere offer for an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident, India rejected it with contempt.
The ceremony recalled the decisive military response by Pakistan on the night of May 6-7, when Pakistan shot down five Indian warplanes, including three Rafale jets, demonstrating its resolve to defend sovereignty. The international community recognized Pakistan’s firm stance, which also resonated strongly within India.
Thanksgiving Day serves as a reminder of national resilience, unity, and the sacrifices made in defense of Pakistan’s integrity and justice.
