Defense Minister Khawaja Asif Warns of Secret Indian Attacks via Afghanistan, Calls for National Unity
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif warned in the National Assembly that India, unable to engage directly, is allegedly conducting secret attacks through Afghanistan. He claimed the Taliban regime had asked for $10 billion for the transfer of terrorists, but Pakistan did not receive any guarantees.
Addressing lawmakers, Asif emphasized the need for national unity against terrorism and external threats. He said internal differences must not overshadow the country’s security, adding that political leaders must prioritize the national interest over political gains.
“Despite our differences, Parliament is the main forum for resolving national issues through dialogue. History has given this House an opportunity for reform,” he said. He stressed that terrorism is unrelated to religion and that Pakistanis must unite across sects, nationalities, and ideologies.
The minister also highlighted Pakistan’s historical involvement in conflicts of the superpowers, stating, “Those wars were not ours, and we continue to pay the price today.”
Khawaja Asif concluded by calling for love for the country, adherence to the true teachings of Islam, and complete loyalty to Pakistan, noting that conditional loyalties cannot lead to victory. He also revealed that he has been receiving threats after speaking about sectarian issues.
