Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has stated that Pakistan is prepared to engage in dialogue with the Afghan Taliban, but only after they hand over terrorists hiding in Afghanistan.
Speaking to Hamid Mir on Geo News’ Capital Talk, DG ISPR highlighted that the Afghan Taliban are providing sanctuary to terrorists, some even within government buildings. He said Pakistan has repeatedly blocked these terror networks from targeting its territory, but stressed that Afghanistan now faces a choice: prioritize peace and cooperation with Pakistan, or continue harboring groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“The Afghan Taliban must decide whether TTP or Pakistan is more important to them, whether terrorism or peace matters,” he said.
DG ISPR further warned that Afghanistan is evolving into a hub for international terrorism. “The Taliban have invited Al-Shabaab fighters from Somalia and are in contact with Hamza bin Laden, Osama bin Laden’s son, to give them space in Afghanistan,” he said.
He added that Pakistan’s efforts are not only a fight for its own security but also a battle to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a base for terrorist operations threatening regional and global security.
“Pakistan has blocked their path. This is not just a war for the people of Pakistan—it is a war for the entire region and the world,” DG ISPR concluded.
Pakistan’s position underscores its ongoing counter-terrorism operations and diplomatic pressure on Afghanistan to prevent the use of its territory by terrorist groups to launch attacks abroad.
