POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
The Foreign Office of Pakistan has clarified the nature of a recent visit to Afghanistan by a three-member delegation led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil press briefing, spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi stated that the visitors are respected individuals, but the trip was made in their personal capacity and not on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.
Andrabi emphasized that there has been no major shift in Pakistan’s stance toward Afghanistan. The borders remain closed, and the government continues to demand concrete measures against terrorism from Afghan authorities.
On possible contacts concerning the Strait of Hormuz, Andrabi noted that defense and military officials are in communication with Iranian counterparts, but he could not confirm any definitive developments regarding diplomatic or security discussions.
The clarification aims to delineate personal visits from official government policy while reaffirming Pakistan’s consistent security and border concerns with Afghanistan.
