POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has voiced strong objections over the recent replacement of Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori, claiming the decision was made without consultation with the party.
MQM spokesperson Faisal Sabzwari said that the party learned of the change through the media and emphasized that MQM-P is a key federal ally. “It is better if the Prime Minister consults before making such decisions,” he stated. Sabzwari added that MQM-P does not seek unnecessary tension but expects decisions to have logic and transparency. The party will decide its course of action regarding this development soon.
Meanwhile, veteran MQM leader Farooq Sattar argued that the governorship of Sindh has historically been an MQM right, and that the unilateral change undermines the party’s role in the coalition. He warned that MQM-P might consider leaving the federal government if the issue is not addressed.
The controversy highlights growing friction between MQM-P and the ruling coalition over provincial appointments. MQM-P has historically held the Sindh governorship, and the recent decision to replace Tesori has sparked debate over coalition agreements and the balance of political power in the province.
As the political situation unfolds, MQM-P’s next moves will be closely watched for their potential impact on the stability of the federal coalition.
