Govt Says Imran Khan Can Only Go Abroad for Life-Threatening Illness

Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry on Monday clarified that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan can only be sent abroad for treatment if there is legal evidence of a life-threatening illness. Speaking to the media, he emphasized that all necessary medical facilities are already available in the jail and will continue to be provided.

Chaudhry rejected claims of negligence regarding Khan’s treatment, stating that the government is serious about ensuring the full implementation of recommendations made by the medical board. He called social media propaganda regarding alleged deals or relaxations “baseless,” saying that attempts to pressure the government through sit-ins or other political actions are unacceptable.

“The only way for treatment abroad is possible in the case of proof of a life-threatening disease under legal evidence,” he said. “If there is to be dialogue, it must occur through parliamentary channels. Politics of blackmail or pressure benefits no one and will not be entertained.”

The statement comes amid ongoing public debate and protests regarding the health and jail conditions of the former prime minister. Chaudhry’s remarks reiterate the government’s position that medical treatment will continue within the legal framework, and any extraordinary measures require verified medical proof.
