Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed several parts of Karachi, resulting in multiple accidents that claimed the lives of at least four people and left three others injured.
According to reports, the downpour affected various localities including Orangi Town, North Nazimabad, Old City Area, Saddar, Malir, Gulshan-e-Maymar, and North Karachi. The intense weather conditions led to dangerous situations on roads and in residential areas.
Authorities confirmed that the fatalities occurred in separate incidents caused by strong winds and rain-related hazards. Emergency services responded to multiple locations, shifting the injured to nearby hospitals.
The city’s traffic system was also severely disrupted due to water accumulation on key roads. The track from Nursery to Baloch Colony Bridge on Shara-e-Faisal was closed for traffic, causing major congestion. Additionally, waterlogging near the flyover on Sher Shah Suri Road in North Nazimabad further worsened the traffic situation.
Residents faced difficulties commuting as several roads became impassable, while authorities urged citizens to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions.
The latest spell of rain highlights Karachi’s ongoing infrastructure and drainage challenges, as even moderate to heavy rainfall continues to cause urban flooding and public safety risks.
