The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa higher education department has issued new directives banning male teachers in government universities from meeting female students alone in their offices.
According to the letter sent to all government universities in the province, each department is now required to nominate a female faculty member who will listen to the complaints and concerns of female students and ensure their issues are addressed.
The letter also directs universities to organize seminars at least once every quarter to raise awareness among female students about their rights under the Protection from Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act.
Officials said the move is aimed at creating safer and more inclusive learning environments for female students, ensuring that they have proper channels to report harassment or any workplace-related grievances.
University administrations have been asked to implement these measures immediately and ensure compliance to safeguard the rights and wellbeing of female students.
