Sharjeel Memon Claims Federal Ministers, Governor House Plot Against Sindh Government

Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon on Wednesday accused federal ministers and the Governor House of plotting against the provincial government, urging the Pakistan Peoples Party leadership to seek clarification from the federal government.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Memon highlighted ongoing development projects in Sindh, emphasizing that the mega schemes under construction are meant not just for Karachi or Hyderabad but for the entire country. He noted that Sindh is increasingly becoming a hub for medical treatment, citing liver transplants as an example, reducing the need for patients to travel abroad.

The minister spoke about the Sindh government’s initiatives, including a digital portal, the generation of electricity from Tharparkar coal, and the creation of a data system for women farmers aimed at introducing new projects to empower them. He also noted the formation of the Sindh Electric Regulatory Authority.

Memon lauded the improvement in law and order across Karachi and Sindh, claiming that 28 dacoits were killed in 120 police encounters and 56 others were arrested with injuries. He emphasized that while Karachi faces road and traffic challenges due to its population comparable to countries, the provincial government continues to ensure safety and healthcare for millions, including patients coming from outside the province.

Responding to questions about news of a meeting with Asif Ali Zardari, Memon dismissed reports as baseless, saying that Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari continue to receive briefings and the alleged scolding claims were untrue.

Memon reiterated allegations of conspiracies against the Sindh government, saying they are driven by “political orphans” in the federal government and the Governor House. He urged the PPP leadership to demand answers from the federal government, stressing that Sindh is supporting the federal government despite not being formal allies.
