A lawyer from Swat, Asadullah, has been sentenced to six months in prison by the Peshawar High Court for contempt of court over defamatory conduct directed at a female civil judge.
Justice Ijaz Anwar, presiding over the case, remarked that the lawyer had threatened the judge and used inappropriate language, attempting to pressure her into delivering a favorable decision.
The court noted that Asadullah failed to provide satisfactory answers and did not appear despite multiple orders, prompting the contempt ruling.
The verdict highlights the judiciary’s strict stance against misconduct and threats toward judges and underscores the legal consequences for professionals violating court decorum and ethical standards.
