Terror Incidents Drop 65% in KP After Operation Ghadb-ul-Haq

Terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have declined by 65 percent following the launch of Operation Ghadb-ul-Haq, according to official documents and government officials.

The operation, carried out on the intervening night of February 26 and 27, targeted militant networks and their alleged sanctuaries across the border in Afghanistan. Authorities claim the crackdown has significantly improved the security situation in the province.

Official figures indicate that prior to the operation, 240 terrorist incidents had been recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year. Following the launch of the operation, the number dropped to 80 incidents, reflecting a substantial decline in militant activity.

The data further reveals that the highest number of attacks — 48 — occurred during the ninth week of the year before the operation. In contrast, incidents fell sharply to 12 by the twelfth week after the operation. Similarly, 42 incidents were reported in the tenth week and 29 in the eleventh week, showing a steady downward trend.

Overall, a total of 323 terrorist incidents have been recorded in the province so far this year.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry attributed the decline to targeted operations against militants and their bases. Speaking to media, he stated that security forces had successfully eliminated key masterminds involved in major attacks, including incidents in Islamabad and Bannu.

He added that several high-profile militants who allegedly used Afghan territory to launch attacks against Pakistan were killed during Operation Ghadb-ul-Haq. According to him, authorities in Afghanistan had also identified members and hideouts of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah described the operation as having a “positive impact” on law and order in the province. He credited the improved security situation to coordinated efforts by the Pakistan Army, police, and other law enforcement agencies.

He reaffirmed that counterterrorism operations would continue to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.

Officials maintain that sustained military and intelligence-based operations remain critical to eliminating terrorism and preventing its resurgence in the country.
