POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Pakistan has carried out targeted airstrikes against terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said during a Senate session, pledging to avenge the deaths of martyrs and reaffirm national security.
Chaudhry explained that operations targeted seven centers of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Fitna al-Khawarij across Nangarhar, Paktika, and Khost provinces. “The Air Force carried out intelligence-based strikes, and reports indicate around 100 terrorists were killed,” he said.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s response is a consequence of repeated infiltration and attacks from Afghan soil. “The fabric of attacks in Tarlai, Bannu, and Bajaur mirrors Afghanistan. Terrorism is happening in Pakistan from Afghanistan. We are not here to pick up dead bodies; we will respond decisively,” Chaudhry said.
Chaudhry also mentioned ongoing discussions with Afghanistan, including a proposal where Pakistan would provide 10 billion rupees to push Taliban militants back across the border, provided Afghanistan guarantees no interference in Pakistan.
“We want peace, but there will be no compromise on national security. Now, we will not just hold funerals; the blood of each martyr will be avenged,” he declared.
The strikes follow yesterday’s retaliation against terrorist hideouts and reflect Pakistan’s stance that intelligence-driven operations are necessary to neutralize threats before they can impact the country.
