The protest at the Swabi Interchange by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers demanding the hospital transfer of party founder Imran Khan has entered its fourth day, resulting in the complete closure of the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) rest area to all traffic.
Protesters have staged a sit-in at the interchange, causing long queues and massive congestion on the motorway. Commuters, including women, children, and the elderly, are facing severe difficulties as vehicles are forced to take alternative routes. Traffic congestion has spread into Swabi city, Topi, and along Ghazi Road, leading to travel delays and frustration for daily travelers.
Traffic authorities have stated that measures are being taken to control the situation and restore normal traffic flow. However, no official announcement has been made regarding the reopening of the motorway.
Citizens have expressed concern over the prolonged closure, urging authorities to find a solution immediately to alleviate the hardships caused by the protest. The sit-in highlights rising tensions and the logistical challenges faced by commuters during large-scale demonstrations.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely while attempting to balance public safety with protester demands.
