The Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has officially implemented the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2024 regarding vehicle number plates.
Under the new rules, vehicle number plates are now linked directly to the owner’s National Identity Card. Vehicle owners will retain ownership of the number plate registered under their CNIC, ensuring legal transferability and better regulation.
A department spokesperson confirmed that two new vehicle number series linked to CNICs have been issued. Vehicle owners will also have the option to install their previously registered number plate on a newly purchased vehicle, providing flexibility and continuity.
The move is part of the government’s effort to streamline vehicle registration, reduce fraudulent number plate usage, and improve road safety enforcement in the province.
