Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced that Gul Plaza, destroyed in a recent tragedy, will be rebuilt and renovated, with compensation for victims to be disbursed promptly.
Speaking at a ceremony for the victims at Karachi Chambers, Shah said the verification process of affected shopkeepers will be completed by Sunday, and he will approve the summary of compensation today. “Compensation checks will be distributed to the victims in five days. Remaining checks of Rs 5 lakh each, along with support for families of the martyrs, have already been issued,” he added.
The Chief Minister also addressed fire safety in the city, noting that Karachi currently has fewer than the required 200 fire tenders. “Efforts are underway to arrange 200 fire tenders within a year to improve emergency response,” he said.
Shah’s announcement comes as part of broader efforts to provide relief to victims and enhance safety measures following the Gul Plaza incident.
