POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Addressing party workers in Jamaluddin Wali, President Asif Ali Zardari reflected on his years in prison, criticizing contemporary leaders for their lack of resilience and resolve.
“I have served jail. I had said that after two years, the jail will ask. Today, the leaders are like this—they haven’t been in jail for even a year and a half and have started to run,” Zardari remarked. He added that in a democracy, taking up arms is not justified and warned that in a war, “you will lose because your nephew will die.”
Zardari emphasized the importance of courage and sacrifice, contrasting his own experience of 14 years in prison with current political figures who, he said, “cannot make sacrifices” and “can only talk.”
He also highlighted the spiritual aspect of imprisonment, noting, “Worship should be done in prisons. Worship is done by going to prisons; the prayers of those who worship in prison are accepted.”
The president concluded his speech by expressing confidence in the future leadership of his party, stating that “the entire Pakistan will be won and the country will be built. Bilawal will be the Prime Minister.”
